Secure Outage Analysis of RIS-Assisted Communications With Discrete Phase Control

This correspondence investigates a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-assisted wireless communication system with security threats. The RIS is deployed to enhance the secrecy outage probability (SOP) of data sent legitimate user. By deriving distributions received signal-to-noise-ratios (SNRs) at user and eavesdropper, we formulate, in closed-form expression, tight bound for SOP under constraint discrete phase control RIS. characterized as function number antenna elements, $N$ , choices, notation="LaTeX">$2^{b}$ . It revealed that performance loss terms due ignorable large when notation="LaTeX">$b \geq 3$ In addition, explicitly quantify binary shifts, i.e., =1$ are utilized. found increasing elements by 1.6 times provides same an continuous-valued shifts. Numerical simulations conducted verify accuracy these theoretical observations.
